Adeline’s Resthouse

Location: Gopeng, Perak
Client: Rumah Rehat Adeline Sdn Bhd
Project Status: Completed
Photography: Bejay Yapp
This project was the most recent addition to a quietly successful hospitality outfit in Gopeng, a sleepy town 20km away from the former tin-mining centre of Ipoh.
Bamboo was selected as the main feature of the reception and dining hall due to its local flavour, its economy as a material, as well as the availability of skilled labour within the native community. The portico over the driveway next to the reception was installed using mild steel frames with two-inch thick bamboo, while the screen along the perimeter of the dining hall employed the more traditional fishmouth joinery.
